GloCo.ch is history… but only to relaunch for the future!

In the general assembly on September 16th, 2025, exactly six years after its creation, the members of GloCo.ch have dissolved the association. 

As you know, we founded GloCo with a big vision. And indeed, GloCo achieved some notable highlights. One of these was convening the Global Democracy Initiative (GDI) in 2019: thanks to GloCo, a diverse set of organisations are collaborating on specific issues to make global democracy a reality. 

More generally, GloCo’s core aspiration to enable people around the world to directly vote on solutions to global problems has generated a lot of excitement: that regardless of national citizenship, world citizens can make an informed vote on remedies to global problems, directly legitimising solutions that are not tied to political or national agendas.   

The bad news is that the vision proved to be larger than our resources, which is why we have decided to dissolve the association. 

The good news is that we are continuing to work towards global direct democracy, just in a different form. We are in the process of professionalising the fundraising, technological development and campaigning for GloKi (spoiler alert: this is the working title of the nextgen organisation). So watch out for new developments!

The website will remain online for some time as an archive of GloCo's success in creating concepts for global direct democracy and building a basis for a more democratic future.
